Department of Commerce & Management Studies

The department of Commerce and Management Studies was established in the 2002, right from the inception of this institution, in view of enabling the students to pursue higher studies and develop entrepreneurial skills.

The Department offers the following graduate and post-graduate programmes at SRC

1. B.Com.
2. B.B.A.
3. M.Com.
4. Ph.D. (Commerce)

Objective

To nurture the students with strong subject knowledge, importing confidence and skills to meet the demanding needs of current competitive business scenario; and pursue higher studies.

Faculty

The faculty members of the department brings with them rich experience and excellent academic record, their wide exposure aids the students to aspire for reaching new heights. Specialization of staff member in varied arena like Banking, Insurance, Marketing, Accounts, Taxation and Economics help the students to gain knowledge from different fields of their choice.

Salient Features

B.Com.: The syllabus of the 3 year degree programme has been framed in such a way that on completion of I year, the students can confidently appear for common proficiency test conducted by professional institutions viz., ICAI, ICWAI and ICSI. It is note-worthy that the syllabus for B.Com. is equivalent to the syllabus of ICAI-Inter. The students are given a unique opportunity of getting 198 periods of hands on experience with five theory courses and six practical courses.

B.B.A.: This Bachelor's degree in Business Administration is aimed at equipping students to pursue MBA studies in future. This programme covers many fields of Management like Finance, Marketing, HR, production, Materials, Communication, Accounting, Law, Mathematics, Statistics etc. The students are exposed to computers by providing 198 credits of hands on experience in computers (with 5 theory and 4 practical courses).

M.Com.: This programme is a perfect blend of core subjects in Commerce like Accountancy, statistics and Management. Financial Management, Advanced Corporate Accounting, Security Analysis & Portfolio Management, Corporate Governance, Business Value Management, Business Intelligence and Regulations, Advanced Cost and Management Accounting are highlight of some of the subjects. The students take up a project work during the fourth semester. The list of electives offered in the second year of the programme includes Bank and Insurance Management,

Marketing Management and Corporate Financial Management.

Comman Forum

This students’ association of Commerce and Management Studies department periodically organizes guest lectures, seminars, workshops, symposia and industrial trips to provide better exposure to students. It also organizes intra & inter-collegiate competitions to bring out the hidden talents of the student community. A series of Management programmes and competitions are conducted to prune the managerial skills and develop competitive ability among the students. A team of office bearers

represented by students and supported by faculty members runs the Forum.

Common Proficiency Test

The department conduct coaching classes for Common Proficiency Test, to the aspirants of CA, ICWAI and ACS.
