This Department established to teach engineering physics has grown into a research centre pursuing research activities in the areas of Crystal Growth, Non Destructive Testing- Ultrasonics, Fiber Optics, Electronics and Instrumentation. It offers the following programmes
- B.Sc. Physics & Computer Science

Objective
In this age when pure physics is being replaced by applied physics, the department proposes to keep abreast with the latest developments by offering UG, PG and Doctoral programmes in physics
Faculty
The Staff members of the department are well qualified with rich teaching cum Industrial experience.
Infrastructure
All necessary equipments for the conduct of B.Sc., Physics Programme and engineering physics programme exist in the department. The infrastructure for establishment of research in Crystal Growth is on the anvil.
Laboratory Facilities
Physics Laboratory Named after Sir .C.V. Raman is Equipped with
Fiber Optics kit with LASER source
Non Destructive Testing (Ultrasound Tester) equipment
Ultra Sonic Interferometers
Black & White, Color Photography and Digital Photography (Exposure, Developing and Printing) facilities apart from the equipments required for engineering physics classes.
B.Sc. (Physics & Computer Science) : This new programme provides students with two majors Physics and Computer Science with no compromise on the syllabi of either of the subjects. Moreover, it opens two vertical channels for the growth of the student - M.Sc. (Physics) and M.Sc. (Computer Science) or MCA.
Co curricular Activities - Raman's club
The club proposes to promote physics by organizing Open day interactions, Science exhibitions, Popular lectures on scientific topics etc.
