Events

    • Our NCC cadets took participated in a rally conducted by Ex-Servicemen Welfare Association, on the eve of “Kargil Diwas” on 26th July 2014, in which homage to the Kargil war martyrs have been given.
    • One SD and one SW cadets along with the NCC Officer Lt.T.Senthilnathan attended a National Integration Camp at Barnes School, Devlali Camp, Nashik from 14th to 25th Dec 2015, in which NCC cadets from all the 17 NCC State directorates participated and exhibited their culture of their state. They also visited various places and seen Artillery Field guns and its demonstrations in Artillery Training Centre, different army helicopters in Combat Army Aviation Training School (CAATS), assembly line of SU-30MKI fighter aircraft in Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, Artillery Museum, Artillery Firing range and Trembakeswar temple during their educational visit in the camp.
    • Cdt. T.R.G KALYAN CHAKRAVARTHY of II B.Tech. CSE-B and Cdt. CH. DIVYA HARSHITHA of II B.Tech. ECE-A have received a scholarship amount of Rs.6000 each, presented by the Cadets Welfare Society, from Col. Vivek Mishra, AO, 8 (TN) BN NCC, Kumbakonam for their meritorious academic performance.
    • SASTRA SRC NCC cadets Subhasree.N and Bhuvaneswari.V of II B.C.A. have received a scholarship amount of Rs.6000/- each from Cadet Welfare Society of NCC.
    • Four SD cadets of SASTRA, SRC campus have attended an Army Attachment Camp at Hyderabad, from 10th to 24th Feb 2016, in which 180 NCC cadets from all Battalions of Trichy and Madurai NCC Group participated. They were attached to the ‘9 Gorkha Rifles’, the first Battalion of 76 INF Brigade, of our Indian Army. They lived an army life for 15 days with training and learning on various military crafts and equipments.
    • Cdt. T.R.G KALYAN CHAKRAVARTHY of II B.Tech. CSE-B and Cdt. CH. DIVYA HARSHITHA of II B.Tech. ECE-A have received a scholarship amount of Rs.6000 each, presented by the Cadets Welfare Society, from Col. Vivek Mishra, AO, 8 (TN) BN NCC, Kumbakonam for their meritorious academic performance on 29.04.2016.
    • Five SD cadets of SASTRA, SRC campus have participated in an All India Trekking Expedition, at Amarkantak, Madhya Pradesh, from 17th to 24th May 2016, which was organized by NCC Group HQ Jabalpur. 500 SD & JD cadets from various NCC Directorates have participated in the trekking camp. They underwent trekking around 40 KMs to various holy places at the originating place of river Narmada, like Sonmuda, Durga dhara and Kapil dhara.
    • A Combined Annual Training Camp was held at AVC College, Mannampandal from 4th June to 13th June 2016, in which 5 SD and 5 SW Cadets of our NCC company participated and they underwent basic NCC trainings including Drill, Weapon training, Map reading, Section battle, etc,. They have received 3 Gold and 5 Silver medals in various competitions held during the camp.
    • On 2th Sep. 2016, our SRC NCC unit organized a blood donation camp. Prof.K.G.Raghunathan, Dean SRC inaugurated the camp, in which 220 units of blood was donated by our student volunteers to the Govt. Hospital Blood bank, Kumbakonam.
    • A one day workshop on ‘SSB awareness and training program’ was organized by the NCC unit of SRC SASTRA on 18th Oct 2016, to create the awareness and spirit of becoming an officer in Indian defence among students community. Col.CVS Kaushal, Commanding Officer, 8 (TN) BN NCC inaugurated the workshop. Col.G.Murali, former Interviewing Officer and Deputy President of SSB, Allahabad, Lt.Col.C.S.Jayavel, a trained Group Testing Officer from Defence Institute of Psychological Research and Mr.T.Ashokkumar, former Scientist, DRDO and Group Testing Officer served as resource persons and conducted SSB stage 1 screening tests for the participants.
    • 68th Republic day Commemoration Run was organized by our NCC unit along with the other NCC units of 8 (TN) BN NCC on 24.1.2017, for a distance of 5 kms from 07:30 hrs to 08:30 hrs. Col. Vivek Misra, Offg.OC, 8 (TN) BN NCC, Kumbakonam presided over the Commemoration Run. Inaugurated and flagged-off by Dr. N.Anbarasan, Principal, Govt. Arts College, Kumbakonam & Prof. K.G.Raghunathan, Dean, SASTRA, Kumbakonam. The commemoration run started from SASTRA University and ended at Govt. Arts College, Kumbakonam after passing through the main streets/roads of Kumbakonam. 150 NCC Cadets, PI Staff of 8 (TN) Bn NCC, Kumbakonam took participation in the run holding various placards highlighting the importance of National Integration, Swaach Bharat Abhiyan, Daily Yoga, Health and Hygiene.
    • Our NCC coy conducted a SWAACH BHARATH program on 19.4.2017, to promote the responsibility and involvement of cadets in the cleanliness campaign, in which cadets undergone cleaning of our SRC campus from 4pm to 6pm.
    • The NCC Group Commander Col.R.Shivanathan visited our SRC campus for Inspection on 26.5.2017 and accepted the guard of honour given by our NCC cadets.
    • Cpl.Udhayasudhan.E of III B.Sc. MBio. have attended an Advance Leadership Camp held at Anand Engineering College, Agra, Uttar Pradesh from 21st Aug. to 01st Sep. 2017, in which training classes were conducted on SSB interview syllabus such as picture perception, group discussion and group task.
    • SASTRA SRC NCC cadets Subhasree.N and Bhuvaneswari.V of II B.C.A. have received a scholarship amount of Rs.6000/- each from Cadet Welfare Society of NCC on 08.09.2017.
    • A street play program was conducted on behalf of Swaachhta Hi Sewa based on Swaach Bharath Campagin on 21.9.2017, at SASTRA University road, Kumbakonam. Cadets demonstrated various causes of health problems and diseases due to lack of hygiene, through a small drama. The events were organized by Lt.T.Senthilnathan, ANO, SASTRA University, Kumbakonam.
    • Five cadets participated in a National Integration Camp held at Periyar Maniyammai University, Vallam from 06th to 17th Nov 2017, in which they camped with cadets from all states of our country. Our cadets organized the National Integration Awareness Program on behalf of Tamilnadu contingent and won the first prize. They won medals in volleyball and Kho-Kho too. Cdt.R.S.Sri Gayathre of II B.Sc. MBio. has won the best cadet award in the camp.
    • On the eve of International Day of Yoga on 21.6.2019, Yoga practice was conducted at Srinivasa Ramanujan Centre, Kumbakonam. Around 240 NCC cadets from SRC / SASTRA, Govt. Arts College, Town Higher Secondary School and Arignar Anna Govt. Higher Secondary School participated in the program. Yoga was practiced from 7:00 hrs to 8:00 hrs as per the Yoga protocol with the help of Dr.Radhamani, Asst. Medical Officer, Yoga & Naturopathy, Govt. Hospital, Kumbakonam. To create awareness on Yoga, various competitions like Painting, Quiz, Essay writing & Slogan competitions were conducted and prizes were distributed to the excelled cadets.
    • A Tree Plantation Drive was organized by our NCC unit on 9th Aug 2019 at Sivagurunathar Temple, Sivapuram. 33 cadets participated and planted 50 saplings in and around the temple. The cadets cleaned, watered and hollowed out the ground before plantation.
    • Noise Pollution Awareness Rally was conducted on 23 Sep 2019. Dr.V.Ramaswamy, Dean flagged off the rally. It passed through the streets around SASTRA Srinivasa Ramanujan Centre. The cadets carried placards and issued pamphlets to the people to spread awareness about the pollutants and pollution-free environment. Pollution Awareness Seminar was conducted by the unit on 27th Sep 2019, in which the cadets spoke about the various corrective measures to be taken for a pollution-free life.
    • Our cadet CPL. MOHAN KUMAR. S of II B.Sc. ‘M-Bio.’ attended a Personality Development & SSB Awareness Capsule, conducted by NCC Directorate at 110 INF Battalion, Coimbatore from 16th to 27th Sep 2019. Followed by this he was selected and participated in the prestigious Central level SSB Screening Capsule, conducted by NCC Directorate, at Delhi from 5th to 19th Mar 2020.
    • Our ANO Capt.T.SENTHILNATHAN along with our cadets Sgt. MADHAVA RAJ. K of III B.Tech. ECE ‘A’ and Cdt. SANTHOSH KUMAR. K of II B.Com. ‘A’ participated as volunteers under the banner of ‘EXERCISE NCC YOGDHAN’ in rendering administrative and traffic assistance to Civil administration and Police departments, in and around Kumbakonam at the time COVID Lockdown from 25.4.2020 to 7.5.2020.
    • After attending seven consecutive shooting camps at various levels, by his precise shots, CUO. AKASH.S of III B.Sc. PCS took part in the NCC Tamilnadu, Puducherry, Andaman & Nicobar State Directorate Shooting Team of 16 best shooters and participated in the National level Inter Directorate Sports Shooting Competition held at Asansol, West Bengal from 14th to 25th Aug 2019. He also competed in the Tamilnadu State Shooting Championship conducted by the Tamilnadu Shooting Association at Coimbatore and obtained IV position in Small bore Rifle 3P Junior Men category. He was felicitated with Best Performance Cadet award, by the NCC Group Headquarters, Trichy on 6th Feb 2020.
